Mersea Island is a small (inhabited) island just off of the county of Essex in the UK. You can get to it at low tide but the road is cut off back to 'the main land' at high tide.

  • Hi Robin,

The power for the FT-817 was coming from a 7ah SLA and the power for the FT-897 was coming from a car 'jump start' power pack.

I'm more of a Yaesu man myself too, I have the 817, 847 and 857 all band rigs and VX5 and VX150 handhelds. The only non-Yaesu rig that I use regularly is my Icom IC-207 when I use at home.

  • Mark and Kevan,

Fun dxpedition in a beautiful setting. Thanks for sharing your video clip.

    73 & DX, Greg K4KO

  • It was hardly a dxpedition to be honest, the island is only 10 minutes drive away from Kevan's house. Really nice place though, I'm sure it won't be my last trip down to the island. I might wait until it gets a little warmer to go there again though!

Listen out for MJ0MJH and 2J0WMG from Jersey in April.

  • Good video Mark!

  • Thanks, it's not too bad. I could have done with some more footage to play about with but I shall try and get that the next time I go out. Hopefully the weather should settle down a bit and I can get out and do a bit more soon.
