The beauty of CFL lights, is if they are kept CLOSE to the plant, they deliver a HUGE amount of light, which is largely absorbed by the plant. LEDs are the only other kind of lighting, which can deliver enormous lumens without the heat of HID bulbs. The bulbs in the video are a bit inefficient. Much better would be flat panels of CFL pipes with a flat reflector, like the propagation lights. 600W CFL/1m.sq. would make the buds "explode", with much less heat than equivalent 1kW HID, or 400W+ LED.

ive used hid/cfl/led lights had great success with all with hid/cfl lights you are looking to cause a footprint of 10,000 lumens per square foot, with leds you wanna hit about 600par per square foot as long as these are met and your feeding them correctly you will get huge yeilds. co2 will help double your yeilds also... great grow though peace n pot :)

@TheRadiastral you can put HID lights right next to plants as well if you use a lightrail.... flourescent will never be as efficient as HID as far as lumen/watts are concerned. and btw big flouro's get hot too, not as hot as HID but hot enough that you cant put them right on the plant. LED is too new to be viable unless you have a good job and this is your hobby or you are selling it. 600w MH/HPS tops most and is more efficient than 1kw HID lighting.

@GANJADUDEdotcom No they get the warrant first, otherwise it gets smashed in court see its not that they dont get the warrant its just they shouldnt even bother with it since if they get it they are raiding you regardless of evidence they can always justify it. most law enforcement dont have millions to invest in flying/driving around with FLIR to find your grow op, baring DEA they do have the funding but unless you are selling you are not even on their radar.

@LikeTotallyRich If they are checking your house they already have a warrant and unless youve invested thousands your house meets the criteria for a grow op just off of inefficiency. 10 cfl lights does not equal 400w of HID as far as lumens go, 10 cfl are the same lumen rating as the first bulb just spread out. as far as price per lumen HID lighting is the most efficient if you must use flouro use t5.... Most people get cultivation charges because of distribution.

@LikeTotallyRich But, people also really have regular(non weed) indoor gardens and use 400, 600, 1000 watt systems! One is rarely busted on light detection alone!

@LikeTotallyRich lighting doesn't work that way, the lumen output of 10 cfls is the same as 1 cfl just spread allover. it is very difficult to see HID lighting through the house usually how you get caught is the vent. people are getting raided because their selling weed. the number 1 cause of a raid is tip from an individual, not flyovers by helicopters. places like where I live cant afford the heli/20,000 mounted FLIR unit let alone the gas to patrol an entire county.

HID light are thermal detectable by helicopters. Alot of people are getting raided by the police with HID light since they cause a thermal spot on the scanner. CFL & LED lights are undetectable, maike no buzzing and no noise. 10 x 40w cfl = 400w light so...
