Do they have the Shoplift Scanners at Giant? Those are the hand held scanners that you walk around the store with and when you scan one item, you get to take three and pay for one. Great tool for the supermarket's pilfer rate.

@metalupyourthrash Good. Nobody should be stealing. I never do, but I have been using the scanners since the day they were installed. The system shouldn't be abused.

@alexweb8 I"m not supposed to talk about stuff like this but I work at a GIant and let me just say, we will eventually catch you. It's not a foolproof shoplift system. You may get away with it for a while but you'll get caught.

@toriknox12 "syupid"?????? If you are trying to spell stupid, well what did you expect this video to be, entertaining? I mean really if your going to watch a video of someone using a self checkout at a store, you can't put a comment like " wow this video was syupid" because you have to know before you even click on it that you can't expect to be entertained.

aw, the self checkouts at loblaws, yig, and canadian tire, the only self-checkouts i've been to, don't announce the price like that, nor do they have conveyor belts.

I enjoyed your post. I tried to explain that the local grocery stores have this technological advance to someone from another country and they were amazed. Now I can just send them a copy of the link. Plus I LIKE self checkout much better than going to a person. Machines aren't irritatingly picky about coupons and are rarely in a bad mood. If there's a problem you can always get assistance.
