The Esky Hunter is my 1st 4 channel helicopter. It's great for indoor flight & outside, if there is virtually no wind but a little unstable outside with anything above a slight breeze. There was a little bit of a breeze when I shot this so it was difficult to do anything tricky. I hadn't flown the Hunter for a while. It was gathering dust on the shelf. I've been flying my Honey Bee V2 a lot more but I have so many trees creating quite a bit of obstacles.
On the Hunter I am using Extreme blades, Extreme extended inner shaft, Extreme swash plate, & extended servo arms. There are 5 holes in the arm & I have it positioned on the middle one. I also notched out the body a little to accommodate for the longer arms to move freely. I know that's probably not good for it but I am using the 11.1 v battery from my Honey Bee to give it more power against the wind.
If any of you are considering buying your 1st helicopter, I would recommend buying the Esky Big Lama 4 channel co-axial because it will be able to withstand more wind due its larger size & more powerful motors & still be able to fly it inside.
You need a lot of room to really fly a fixed pitch helicopter 'cause they can really get away from you quickly. They require very small movements of the sticks. The co-axial helicopters are great for small yards & inside close quarters.

  • @primalspy - I have this heli and I'm very interested in carrying out the upgrades you mention in the description. The stock swashplate/cyclic has too little control authority with those short servo arms.

    Two questions;

    1) Where did you order your parts from? Should I be looking under the Lama V4 spares?

    2) What servo arm kit did you use? Was it pt.no. EFLRSA100? Can you please tell me where you bought it? I can't find this kit anywhere, but I read elsewhere that it's the kit to use.

    Thanks

    I'll be honest with you, the upgrades will make some difference but not a lot. This is a great training heli but if I were you, I would put your money into something that has more upgrade parts available ie. Big lama or the Honey Bee. To answer your question, I purchased the Esky Honey Bee servo replacement kit pn# EK-000155. I bought a pair from Ebay. They're cheap & come with the servo arms. The pn# you mentioned looks correct but I don't know if they are a perfect fit. : )

  • @dpsreable Hello...these are the Xtreme blades. They're kind of soft & extremely flexible. You can buy them at ThinkRc or the Airy Hardended blades from HeliPal look real nice. I want to try the Xtreme motors next on this! : )

  • @primalspy - Thanks for the response man, I appreciate the info. I can also appreciate what you're saying about upgrading to a larger heli with more upgrades like the Big Lama, but I've already got a hold of a Novus FP 4ch and CP 6ch as my next helis, so the Hunter is just to complete my training. I figured I might as well make the most of it and the upgrades are pretty inexpensive. Still, I gotta say that yours moves considerably better than mine in your vid. Thanks again.
