You are very correct, Unfortunately not alot of ppl know this. I was guilty of this until I began my current ed. program. You should highlight ability and not disability and let them know that ableism exists and we put barriers in the way of ppl w/ disabilities when we don't consider automatic doors, ramps etc.

  • @minnimouse1998 where??

  • @philsaspiezone How about doing neurotypical. I think I need some awareness of what it's like to not be autistic. If I were more aware of the difficulties non autistic people face, I might be able to be more tolerant of them.

To be perfectly honest. I can't begin to imagine what it's like to be neurotypical. I have thought about what it would be like if I were suddenly neurotypical. the thought scares the crap out of me.

  • Try doing autism or Asperger syndrome.

  • lol

    i went to this school

    olms is better :)

  • i used to go to this school. now i go to orchard lake middle school in westbloomfield. one of those kids in their is a kid thats lives across from me!

  • OMG i am in this video

  • This kind of stuff makes me SICK! All you are teaching these kids is how much it sucks to have a disability and that they should be glad they aren't like that. Yes having a disability causes some difficulties for me, but it isn't the end of the world. Some of the biggest problems have nothing to do with disability. It has to do with how our society treats people with disabilities. These "awareness days" only add fuel to the fire.
