Toward the Within was recorded in one take in November 1993 in the Mayfair Theatre in Santa Monica, California and was released by 4AD as an album and a video a year later. It was the last major event to take place in the Mayfair Theatre before it was fatally weakened in the earthquake a short time later and had to be demolished. The video was filmed by Mark Magidson and contains interviews with Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry.

After "Rakim" - a small bit of Perry's statement and "Song of the Sibyl" - then it's up to Lisa and Brendan to speak again.

  • ComaLies225 and themasterofallfish - you are both absolutely correct - Lisa Gerrard channels another world, all together, when singing. The most amazing voice I have ever heard. Simply angelic.

  • Her voice possesses milions of souls all around the world... this voice is one of the most otherworldy things I`ve came across in myentire life!

It doesn`t matter what your religion is or you`re even an atheist (like me). All people have ears and souls and I`m proud to be alive when I`m able to hear such a MIRACLE.

  • She is like the Priestess of Song...

  • @pulszer She is like from another world and another Time... classical, immortal.. their music is truly divine..

  • @Transoxiana94 Yes indeed you are right! Her voice is Divine, of the Angelic realms and it transcends religion.... Truth of the Universe is not just about 'religion' I agree wholeheartedly. I saw them perform in Seattle in an old theatre back in 2006 or something like that.. my mom says her voice sounds like the chanters in Instanbul..

  • @desastermaster2010 yep. It's a Medieval Catalan song

  • I love her.

  • this version it probably the best version. The woman is very pretty, she has a kind of classical look you dont see much of these days.

  • @nekokittymew i TOTALLY agree with you
