Very few people realize how much work is required to compete at the Olympic caliber. This short film takes a closer look at the philosophy and psychology of training to be the world's best.

Several athletes as well as the coach of the Canadian national rowing team were interviewed and asked a series of questions about their training and lifestyle.

There was no script for these interviews, they were merely edited into a 'condensed' format.

All footage was taken during workouts or at team meetings over the last 5 weeks.

  • Hey Cam, I just watched your race with Doug in the double at the 2011 world's, you guys looked great, I'm excited to see you guys clean up in London. Bring home a gold for Canada, we are all behind you!

  • I remember when I started rowing. Its pain and sometimes no motivation but we all create our motivation. The guy behind me or next to me in ny motivation. I would not give it up for anything even if i broke my back for my guys.

  • Great Work.

  • I want those shoes at 2:13

  • @hurrhurrmurr 5 sets of 20? That's retarded from every sense. Also, since I started rowing and lifting has become supplementary, it's been very 'fun' seeing how weak and tired you get. I rarely have the energy to do a really good lifting session.

  • @IsleyNumber1 I know what you mean. I can't tell if they're in lbs, kgs or a mix of the two.

That said though, when I rowed crew, we'd be doing stuff like 5x20 every morning for a week during 100% weeks and ergs in the evening, so you can't do 5x20x100kg+ every day. Olympic athletes train up to 3x a day all year and some of the guys will have been lightweight rowers (they look like it at least), so you wouldn't expect someone who is less than 70kg doing that every day.

  • one of the best rowing videos I've ever seen

  • are these weights in pounds or kg

  • That awkward moment when a rower picks up a weight and it's really light...
