This is a short video detailing three methods of bolt operation. These will apply to most standard bolt action rifles, not just the Remington 700. We also cover how to execute a chamber check.

Please excuse the wind noise, we are working on a better audio setup.

Watch to the end to see 1/4 speed, slow motion replays of each method.

As always, this is not "THE" way, just "A" way.

  • What scope do you have set up on this system?

  • @airbornemike89 US Optics SN3

  • I don't know if you have gotten any suggestion on 'naming' your bolt manipulation method. I would call it the Blade Hook Thumb Push, there could be some variations made in that if so desired. Then again, naming something does not make it the best thing that has ever happened since peanut butter and jelly met.

  • @Reynard13Fuchs Thanks for the suggestion. While it is the method I use, it's not something I came up with, so I don't really get to name it. I just use it and pass it on.

  • @LoneWolfUSMC do you have any dislikes about the scope?

  • @x8541 cost and wait time is about it. If I were to order another, I would specify a capped windage turret. The large M40 type likes to turn when going into or out of the case. I mostly hold for wind, so I really don't need the mongo turret.

  • @LoneWolfUSMC It's a very good method, when I get a 700 I'll most likely use it as well. By the way, very good videos and full of information, not just shooting like a lot of videos. I subscribed as well.

  • Thanks. I'm upgrading from Unertl 10X .

  • @ajbrown0117 The rifle started life as a 700 SPS-V in .308. I replaced the stock with a B&C Light Tactical and the trigger with a Timney 510. The barrel is still the factory 26". It may become a 6.5CM in the not too distant future.

  • Was wondering what rifle you were using and what barrel length it was.
