My friend & I - before I knew my sleepiness was an actual health problem - started calling my narcolepsy "The Drowsy."

I hope that treatment of the orexin deficiency comes through SOON! Symptomatic treatments just aren't good enough.

  • I know the Hell you are living in and have been i have been battling this since i was 14 not knowing what it was just thinking that i was lazy and crazy and pushed and pushed myself I am now 32 with 7 kids under 8 and I was just diagnosed with it a few weeks ago and am now taking nuvigile ( the new and inproved provigile) I am a wake but my emotions are crazy and I can't sleep now. have you found anything that works for you? please let me know

  • I've actually started using Neurofeedback/Biofeedback as my main course of treatment. It's actually been very effective & the best part is that there are NO PILLS! I also try to supplement with melatonin as often as I remember to take it. I have huge migraine issues, also, so lots of ibuprofen or excedrine. Going to try a new doc soon - hormone replacement specialist. Hopefully I remember to update w/info about it ... eventually ...

  • Wow, how overwhelming all of that was. I know because I get that alot. I know what you are going through and it sucks. I have N and C, also struggle to find balance in life. I am in a mid cycle of amphetemines now and worry for what will happen when I reach the ceiling of my tolerance. I know too all about shutting people out and keeping at a distance in order to keep that trigger at bay. Do you get the tingling sensations that run through your body like lightning in you viens?

  • I chalk that tingling up to jerking muscle spasms. Sometimes it feels like kind of a zap when it's less intense, full loss of control doesn't really have the same sensation. What bugs me more is the burning sensation at the back of my head. I think it's muscle fatigue as I try to hold my head up through the small pulsing attacks.

  • I know it takes a lot to talk about N and the impact it has on our lives. I hope that being able to vent helps. I understand your frustrations. Feel free to shoot me a message if you need to talk. Take care!

  • Thanks!

Oh man ... when I actually do talk about it I tend to overload people. They're not prepared to respond to all of that! My fiance deals with it all right along with me so he's able to put up with my ranting, but not really anyone else.

    Hehe. Ugh.
