Another of our old tracks, rehearsals in preparation for 10th December.

The accoustic guitar line that starts the song was actually nicked from a song I'd written around Christmas 1990 for a girl whom I was at the time quite infactuated with (so it pre-dates my wife, my band, and most of my children!) Needless to say, the song outlived that particular relationship, though it was the accoustic's line in particular that stuck with me even after the words and tune of the original song (which were never that inspired) went the same way as the girl.

Some few years later, I wrote this song, about the end of a different relationship (and this time, not mine) quite literally the night before we went into a studio down near Bath (a place called Nam) to record our second album.

I used the song during sound-check and the band jamed along as they're prone to doing; quite literally the first time they'd heard it. But it kind of hooked us, and a couple of hours later we recorded it "properly" and included it on the album which in turn was subsequently named after it.

"Every today is yesterday's tomorrow" - apparently a Japanese proverb, according to a book I have on cultivating bonsai.

  • This is very good, hard to believe I'm the first to comment, although that's OK with me, it sort of shows something of my taste in music, which I believe is good. Really enjoyed this song and hoping I find more on your channel or will be hearing more. This song reminds me a lot of Cat Stevens! Mark
