the memory is all the same on every mp3/ipod they just say so many songs which is an average depending on what size files your music is

The Apple website says 1750.
1gb will hold around 240 songs... So I'm not sure where they get that number.

thats kinda stupid it should say like 7.10 gb or so if its 1750 might have to 16gb for my sister for christmass.

Actually.... when any memory manufacture labels a storage device with 8, 16, or 200gb... the OS reads that as 7.1 or 14.5 or 190gb... this has to do with the binary and the way that data is stored by the software.
