That's a poor example. That kind of movement restriction would impact the music since they'd be restricting their movement, also limiting the amount of "emotion" they can put into a song. Dressing a certain way and actually limiting your music by doing what you said are different. . It's like a lounge singer and band thrashing and headbanging, it affects the actual quality of the music. Now, if they were able to magically do it while keeping the music sounding the same? No, I'd wouldn't mind.

Yes, music is for the ears, not for the eyes, but musicians are also judged on their image and how they put themselves across to people. They're expected to put on live performances and make music videos.

If they were wearing suits in their videos, and standing there doing fuck all like 60's recordings (with video) you'd react/think of them differently. It affects your opinion of them which in turn will affect your opinion of their works.

If people like their music, they'll get past the look because, in the end, the look does not affect the music AT ALL.
