Part 1 - Panel comments.
Top White House officials hold America's Great Outdoors Initiative in Occidental College's Thorne Hall on Thursday, June 8, 2010.

The Los Angeles-based listening session is one of several being held around the country and is intended to be a place to hear the public's ideas for building a 21st-century conservation and recreation agenda and reconnecting Americans with the outdoors. The program was launched in April by President Barack Obama '83.

Panelists include Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley, Department of Agriculture Under Secretary Harris Sherman, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Assistant Secretary Jo-Ellen Darcy.

Also participating were LA Conservation Corps Executive Director Bruce Saito, Green for All Chief Stategist Cecilia Estolano, California Cattlemen's Association President-elect Kevin Kester and Forest City Enterprises, Inc. Senior Vice President Renata Simril.
