The Devonian hauled by 55 022 Royal Scots Grey.

due to an engine fire at tiverton 47 804 was hauling the failed deltic down to paignton. Whilst in paignton the problem was fixed and the Deltic started back up with the assistance of the 47.

  • It wasn't an engine fire. It was exhaust heat proofing that had become oil contaminated due to a perished drain hose. THAT was smouldering (Simplified version)

  • @MAPFWH thanks i just over heard it was a fire from someone near me. that will explain why she had one of her two engines going on the return trip.

  • @gingerkin We left on both, and arrived in Doncaster on both, also see footage of Lickey on the return, she's on both there!! If one was switched off, we never noticed at the back. We saw 98.8mph on the GPS........ how accurate that was, I don't know.

  • @MAPFWH wow thought she was on one as she was struggling in torre. but i will be sure to look for that vid you mensioned.
