There is no excuse for sounding like you're reciting memorized lines. Memorize every line from every character and then LISTEN. I don't mean listen for your next line cue, LISTEN to the characters and your lines will come naturally. Think of something else when saying your lines and you will sound natural, as though you're saying a fresh thought.

Can someone please explain the story for me? I am studying this in highschool as of now, and the story is quite confusing to me. I don't understand EXACTLY what's going on? Can someone explain the ending to me please. Do the lions become real? How does "Wendy" get out of the locked room?

@ittybittybooboo1 hahah i just came here after watching smart house ;)

If i had one there would not be a veldt, and i would not kill my parents with it. It would more likely feature commonly either pallet town or The Star Ship Enterprise

@animatrix14 Technology doing something we don't expect it to...we might end up the same way.

This is only my opinion, please, so do not hold it against me.
I hate this story. It had spectacular writing, yes. But if you took away the amazing writing, you have more or less a lump of dung staring up at you. I prefer The Sound Of Summer Running (Bradbury also) over this. It's not soft or sappy, but it has more of a poetical and rational sense to it. It has a good ending, not a drop off, sudden ending like The Veldt.
Great interp! When I read The Veldt, it reminded me of Disney's Smart House, but when I finished that chapter, it was like Smart House on steroids...very creepy. Ray Bradbury's a genius.

This story is wonderful, yet creepy. The children believe the machine itself is a parental figure. They imagine their real parents dead in the Veldt, ooh it sends shivers down my spine, the children become soul less freaks. The parents had made one mistake, and thats letting technology run their lives XD.
