Stephen, the first Christian martyr, prior to being stoned talks about Abraham being first called out of Ur of the Chaldeans according to Genesis 15:7 as opposed to out of Haran by Genesis 12:1.

Stephen does this to point out how Abraham sees the glory of God in Ur of the Chaldeans. It is blood shed from Haran (martyrdom) that calls Abraham to a new religion. Abraham's religion is blood shed of animals as opposed to his brother who was killed by the Chaldeans.

Haran fathered an "Iscah" according to Genesis 11:29 and died for it by the hands of his fellow Chaldeans according to Genesis 11:28. Iscah means 'commanded observance of God.'

  • Hello my brother, I hope you are doing well, and I believe that you are. May the Giver our Lord and Savior who you love continue to bless us richly with revelations of our deficits, and may we always look to Him for fulfillment. I am still looking forward to meeting you in person some glad day.

  • God presented Jesus as a sacrifice for our forgiveness

  • Of course one of the reasons why Jesus died on the cross was to stop blood sacrifices. At least in my opinion. Once the son of man's blood was shed...man need not make blood sacrifices of any kind....Jesus died for our sins. From that point on Jesus death was the begining of a new time...his death would transform the world. The new world was to believe and pray, not slay.

  • Good to see you again... seems as though it's been quite a long while.
