The Pocket Piano MIDI is great to play on its own and even better when you chain a few together!
This video demonstrates how easy it is to connect and play multiple Pocket Piano MIDIs. Plug the "MIDI Out" of one synth into the "MIDI In" of another, turn them on, and start playing! Repeat to add another Pocket Piano to the chain.
Once they're connected you can create all sorts of multi-timbral sounds and complex arpeggiator patterns! The Pocket Piano MIDI's six modes can be used in any combination and can be changed at any time while you play. The other adjustable parameters of the Pocket Piano MIDI can be changed at will as well: volume, tuning, and the mode-specific parameters such as rate, depth, envelope, decay and waveform. This flexibility is powerful and fun!
For example, 'organ'-type sounds can be created by setting the Pocket Pianos each to the red Vibrato Synth mode. Tuning the successive Pocket Pianos a third or a fifth above the previous one leads to some awesome harmonies. See the clip at 1:31 for an example of this.
Another great setting is to select different arpeggiating modes across the Pocket Piano MIDI chain. This is very fun since one Pocket Piano's arpeggio can be 're-arpeggiated' by the next, leading to some very complex patterns/melodies! This kind of set up can be seen at 1:26.
The Pocket Piano MIDI's six sound modes:
Vibrato Synth, Harmonic Sweeper, Two-Octave Arpeggiator, Octave Cascade, Mono FM Synth, FM Arpeggiator. Each mode is indicated by its own LED color .
The Pocket Piano is housed in a sturdy aluminum and hardwood case and also includes MIDI In/Out/Thru, a built-in speaker, a 1/4" output jack, and wooden keys made for a refined touch. It can be powered both by a 9V battery or a wall wart (not included).
