GCSE Music Coursework piece - a composition reminiscent of Serialism.

I'm going to say straight away that I understand that this is going to be very few people's cups of tea - but the idea of expressionism and serialism really interested me so I decided to do a coursework piece on it rather than something like Ternary Form or Musicals.

If you don't have anything constructive to say about the piece then please don't.

  • this is really interesting. i havent considered this cause i though it would be too hard. We on WJEC board. weve gor Musical Structure, Music from Stage and Screen, Musical Evolutions, Music from Wales and Music for special occasions

  • @mikeyj1993

When I was doing GCSE it was under the section of Expressionism, but I think I was on the Edexcell board. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be so long as you know a small amount about serialism and how to put the same line of notes together in different ways, etc.

My music teacher was an absolute genius and he helped me a lot in terms of figuring out a structure, but yeah, if youre interested you should go for it, though Im not sure how it would fit into your sections. :/

  • serialism is suppost to sound like shite lol but it sounds like it will get a good grade doing my music writing and listening gcse test tomorrow

  • Yeah, Ive got my exam tomorrow. If Im lucky I might just scrape an A.

And yeah, this piece gave me the highest mark out of all my coursework :P

  • @TehCacti You have great fantasy (Iwon'tsleepatnight)

  • I love this type of music so much thank you for putting this up.

  • Like you said, this probably isn't many people's cup of tea, but when used correctly it doesn't sound that bad. I quite like your piece. I also did music for GCSE, and I reckon I was on Edexcell too.

  • whats the piece called?

  • the beginning is very dark. great.

  • is the sound from sibelius or something similar?

  • This is my favourite rendition of Johnny B Goode.

  • @STJukes same bro same :/

  • Yep, and apparently the exam is going to be hard this year!!
