Mayumi Itsuwa's # 1 hit song in 80's w/Japanes/English
captions. Kudo to Nori Iwata for providing the English translation.
I can't help but admire the powerful voice of Mayumi. English songs are understood everywhere, but Japanese songs are usually thought to be too difficult to be understood all over the world. But Mayumi's Japanese songs gained worldwide acceptance because people understood the real feeling and emotions she expressed in her songs irrespective of the words.

KOIBITOYO
MY DEAR LOVER

Kareha chiru yuugure wa
The evening autumn leaves flowing

Kuruhi no samusa wo monogatari
says the cold is coming

Ame ni kowareta benchi niwa
There are not any love songs

Ai wo sasayaku uta mo nai..
On a broken chair by rain...

  • When I was younger I heard this song, and though I can't understand the meaning I began to love the song. I was inexperience then but I can feel the emotions of the singer. Now that I grew up and had experienced pain,I truly appreciate this song and after all the experience It so marvelous how we can express our deepest feeling through songs.Indeed,Japanese songs are really good.No wonder why I love it,longer than before I have a deeper understanding of the meaning of their song.
