Here is a clip of Tom Jones and Janis Joplin performing 'Raise Your Hand' together on 'This Is Tom Jones' from 1969.
I would like to say thank you to the many thousands of viewers that have made this performance my most popular video.
At the time when this clip was broadcast in 1992 on Channel 4 (UK) it was thought that this 16mm film recording was the only copy remaining in the archives. Luckily, the original videotapes do exist and these shows can now be bought on DVD.
The copyright in these programmes now belong to Tom Jones.

This seems a bit tense to me... maybe I am just not getting it, I like them both, just doesn't seem to flow well together... but, perhaps I am wrong.... fun to see them together though. Thanks for sharing this.

It's a pity Tom Jones chose to be a Las Vegas style crooner, rather than venturing into straight ahead rock or blues. That voice is limitless in range and power - no male singer could match him.

damn. tom jones, got some power in his lungs. janis is a legend, some try and compare amy winehouse, but really, winehouse is far behind the joplin.

This is POWER. And BTW it is my firm opinion that Robert Plant was hugely inspired by Janis both in singing and stage presence.
