  • First time I watched this movie I told Dom, (who turned me on to it) that I would bet what's left of my reputation that is Frankie Jaxon (in the white cap) from 1:48 to 2:47.

At 2:24 her clearly says "oh, step on it boy, boot that thing." Half-pint Jaxon, for sure! By the way, my mother is a Mosby... the other side of the family, but we're all related. OKeh78, Eugene, Oregon

  • Waw!

    That's very good information.

    Thank you.

  • Magical! The number is so simple - no fancy stage show here - yet McKinney's charisma hits you like a bolt. I'm in love!

  • Glad to hear that!!

(And how about the "Bill-Cosby-avant-le-lettre" at 2.20?)

  • Hollywood's first black, actress, and sex symbol, she was called the black garbo. She made other films but this was her biggest, later affter this film, she could'nt find much film work, without playing a maid.she moved to london, then later greece,to sing, were she was known has queen of the night life. She died on may 3,1967 in new york.lost and mostly forgotten.

  • She was the first black international movie star. I love all her movies.

  • A trailblazer! Nina Mae McKinney: The Black Garbo by Stephen Bourne has just been published by BearManor Media. This is the first biography of one of Hollywood's most talented & charismatic stars.

  • @okeh78 That is awsome... Half Pint's just great, i've uploaded on of his songs

I wanted to see this film because Memphis minstrel musician Jim Jackson plays a bit in it.

I also remember reading Half Pint is in the original Cab Calloway Hi-De-Ho short film from the 30s.

Gonna try to get both films as a late x-mas present

  • @okeh78 Thank you so much for that info. Frankiie HPJ is my idol. It's wonderful to see him dancing. Oh Frankie, fan it!

  • I like her haircut though. I fairly enjoy a well groomed negress

  • @tnj2323 elvis pressley was inspired by ants in his pants (fleas really). soon as he got rich and could afford to send his clothes out to be dry cleaned, you never saw him dance anymore. he aint nothing but a hound dog

  • Nina was one of the first black divas who had to fight against overwhelming odds. She was one of the great singer/entertainers of the 20th century. That she died in poverty is so unfortunate. Wow: she was fabulous Thanks for the posting,

    Ted

  • Trying to send this valuable piece of video to a friend, but noooo.... Youtube has to upgrade and comp, letely foul everything up! To the jerks at Youtube- Thanks for Nothing!
