That's Buster Thorton and he's been doing this work I know 20 years or longer. Guess he has a reason why he is flying that high. I am not one to question a 20K hour ag pilot myself. Just my opinion though. Boom height, droplet spectrum, crop/coverage, chem make-up, field size and obstructions all contribute to the madness behind whether or not ag pilots do what they do. And keep in mind, he is still in business and has been a while. So he's doing something right. My 2 cents worth.
I would have thought meteorology would be quite important in regards to inversion layers and the higher possibility of drift if one is present,he does look a tad high.
@June062007 You serious???? Man i've been crop dusting for 8 years and i know what the hell i'm talking about. Recommended height is 1-2 meters. Which would be 3-6 feet. And what the hell does meteorology have to do with spraying?? If its windy out don't spray if its not windy fly all day.... See this is why you guys should have nothing to do with this job. You should check my videos to see how its done the right way......
@cropgun58 You obviously know nothing of meterology or aerodynamics.Suggest you consult with an experienced professional. The days of wheels in the crop (crop dusting) are gone! Now we know more about the behaviour of solids & liquids & improvements in the delivery systems, application height amongst other things, has changed.

@June062007 Yeah the correct height for a rookie. If he was spraying roundup he would kill have the country side

No he's not 100 feet above the field! He's actually at the corect height. Wheels in the dirdt damages crop, plane & coverage.
