@johnissoevil In the U.S., we have what's called a bifurcated legal system. This means that one way a person can be held responsibile for a crime is in a CRIMINAL trial, where charges are brought by the government. The other way a person can be held responsible for damaging someone is in a CIVIL trial, where charges are brought by another party. O.J. was found not guilty in the criminal case, but responsible in the civil case. Hence, double jeopardy doesn't apply.
Chris Darden is a repellent sack of shit who completely abdicated his prosecutorial responsibility in the criminal trial. Just seeing him in this clip gets my blood boiling.

I remember being so torn over this verdict. Part of me was happy about OJ being found liable for the murders. Yet at the same time, I was questioning if they should've even gone through with the civil case, considering he was acquitted in the criminal case. I still wonder to this day, shouldn't this be considered double jeopardy?
