This red velvet cake video recipe shows you how to make a moist and tender red velvet cake with oil.
It's easy to learn how to make red velvet cake with this simple cooking video.
For this red velvet cake video recipe, you will need:
2-1/2 cups of cake flour (not all-purpose flour)
2 Tbsp. cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1-1/2 Tbsp. red food coloring
1 cup vegetable oil
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. white vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees.
Sift the cake flour into a medium bowl. This is an important step because it adds air to the batter, which makes the cake light. See how fine the flour granules look after sifting?
Okay, add the cocoa powder and salt to the flour and whisk it together. Set that aside.
Now pour the buttermilk and the red food coloring into a small bowl, and stir them together. Set that mixture aside.
Pour the oil into a large mixing bowl. Add the sugar, the eggs and the vanilla, and beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
Now add one third of the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, and beat it until combined. And add one-third of the buttermilk mixture, and beat that into the cake batter.
Continue adding the flour mixture and the buttermilk mixture alternately to the cake batter, beating after each addition until the cake batter is smooth and you can't see any lumps of flour.
Don't add ail the flour and buttermilk at once, or you cake could end up dense and tough.
Now add the vinegar to the baking soda, and let it bubble up for a few seconds, then mix it together, and stir it into the cake batter.
Now divide the batter between 2 9-inch round pans that have been sprayed with cooking spray.
Tap on the counter a few times to let the air bubbles out of the pans.
Place the cakes in the preheated oven, and bake 30 minutes. When a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, your cakes are ready. Let them cool in the pans for about 5 minutes, then invert onto a plate.
You can frost your red velvet cake with a cooked frosting (the traditional Southern red velvet cakes are frosted with this type of icing) or a cream cheese frosting. I know the cream cheese frosting isn't a classic Southern red velvet cake, but it does taste good.

Hey , I know it must be really annoying to respond to all these subsitutions but i need to ask ... Can I use all-purpose flour instead of cake flour ? I used another recipe with all-purpose flour but i just wanted to know if it would work with this one ! :p

@cutiechloe12345 Yes, you can. Just sift it before adding it to the recipe. The cake flour is just a little lighter, but the recipe will work fine and the cake will still taste great. Good luck and let me know what happens!
