Hmm, I'll have to disagree. That was a fill light, not a "back light". As the name suggests, a back light shld be behind the subject, creating a halo like outline.

Is he just using greaseproof paper to diffuse the lights?

This guy had a few things wrong with his lighting...first off, that was not a back light, it's a fill light, one of those other two lights could have acted as the key light, and he needed a back light going over her shoulders to outline the subjects hair/head. The lighting was pretty dead and flat looking.

Litepanels are great and all...but WAY OVERPRICED. Check out this website, wwwDOT it-photovideo DOTcom. You can also google them, "Intellytech." They sell lights just like Litepanels but are so much less expensive and are actually brighter!!! They have extremely accurate color temperatures and are very lightweight and durable. I bought the Socanland and CamLight lights and LOVE THEM!!!
