This song always gives me an image of two young children who are ignored and shoved away in a dark and emotionally cold place.

Eventually it gets to the point of where they feel they no longer are loved by anyone, that they do something so drastic as to kill themselves to be noticed and given attention.

At first i thought this song to be somewhat suicidal and sad, but after listening to the lyrics again i realise how subjective it is. I now interpret it as 2 young kids stuck in a playground with no one coming to help them down so they have to jump. it's a clever song really.

Unfortunately I think Bird made one of those "mistakes" he speaks of and Lady and himself into a pretty deep well. When she says "I can't see a thing" and he responds "It's all in your mind", you'd think they were married.
