i figured out about the steam plume...they run air throught the whistle not steam as of right now. I guess its easier on the crews ears or something like that

thanks

i think its either a foot switch whistle OR a little switch whistle...not a cord,

Wow! I ride that Metra line all the time and I was still in the area that day for the summer with my parents- I can't believe I missed this! Are there any plans for another run?

nice video! how come the whistle sounds a bit, idk, abrupt whenever he pulls the cord? also why is there no steam plume?
-
As i'm sure you know orders get hooped up at Rondout numerous times every day. I'm sure one will pop up soon, i'd like to see a video as well

I wish someone shot a video of us on the day before when we got our orders hooped up at the Rondout tower...anyone???
I'm not sure about the whistle. I know that there is another whistle which I actually prefer.
As far as the steam plume, it was a warm day and #2816 is a very clean running locomotive. It burns low grade diesel fuel. I believe to much smoke from a steam engine is a sign of a poor running locomotive.

What kind of camera do you use??

I use a Canon GL2. I really like the camera and the quality. Of course youtube doesn't really show much quality.
