Grand Danois are pretty much known as very relaxed dogs and they were bred to be that way. They are seldom agressive.

@jjsk8erkid yikes. you ok now? sounds really painfull. but i know what you mean. i never owned one myself but they have one at the farm where i boarded my horse. his name is mearl. so sweet. it was his job to bark at anyone who came wheather he knew them or not to let the owners know someone was there. so i be petting him and he'd put on his act by standing up showing his teeth snarling everything. once you pet him he goes back to being the worlds largest lap dog. lol

yah, i wanted to see the dog take off across the yard with the kid. still attached. ...or something.
@spudnutsncoffee Its true.. Im only 20, but I just had a hernia surgery last november deeeeeep in my lower groin, and after the surgery I literally couldnt walk completely upright for almost 2 months. the first few weeks were the hardest, being bed bound and hunching over so bad it made the hunchback of notre dame look good, my 170lb boy was so gentle with me it blew my mind.. Not exaggerating, he literally walked by my side from my room to the bathroom letting me lean on him.. Danes for life.

I may be wrong because I do not own Danes and never have. But my understanding is that Danes are VERY intelligent and aware. In fact, one of my old neighbors was disabled and used a Dane as a companion and "walker". That dog was huge, weighing in at around 200 lbs and he was SO consciously aware of his size and strength. My guess is that this Dane here understood that a tiny child was holding onto it and didn't want to hurt her. Just a guess.
