British rail has problems.

1. it is set up for a different time

2. it was run by ideats in the past

3. it is terrably organised

slow trains run on the same track as fast. There are too many bottle necks. A lot of infustructure was removed in the past and now basicly it was to re build it.

Speed is not so much the problem its the system itself.

Trains are over crouded so add carrages, no room for carrages, make room for double decers.

What we need is more capacity on the existing network. South of Birmingham is appalling and won't be made any better by extra traffic created by HS2. Expresses share a commuter route squeezed between walls and canals, leading inevitably to delays (trains can't overtake!). The alternative road route is the M5/M4 (another bottleneck). Stop bailing out banks and bail out our industry by bringing what we have into the 21st century!

Got to love new reporters not knowing their facts. Right on the 200 km/h definition, but we have several trains all over the UK that can make that speed, have done since the 70s. The Voyagers, Intercity 125, Intercity 225 (The 225 stands FOR 225 km/h...), Adelante, Pendalino; there's hundreds and hundreds of trains running every day in the UK, and they do not just operate along High Speed 1. Try checking your facts before declaring these things.

This country should have had high speed rail a long time ago!. As a country we are slow to do most things. However by the time we are up and running with this we will be so far the rest of europe that it looks quite embarrassing.

The UK should leave the Middle East up to it's own affairs and solve it's own problems before it sorts out other people's issues. It will only be completed in 2025 because they will start conctruction in 2017. I don't get it. Just ignore the sodding enviromental hippy groups and start construction in the next 3 years.
