An atmospheric collection of photos and video set to 'Song for my Father'. He would have been proud I was there.

  • the improvisation is the essence of jazz, and a tune just provides a basic harmony for the improvisation. Far the most jazz songs are either 12,16,24,32 bar standards which everyone can play, thou it takes a master to harmonize them into something special. When you speak compositions in jazz, you often refer to bigband sheet music for a large ensemble.

  • Thank You fo this excellent rendition.

  • we played this in our jazz band. but since I play french horn I had to transpose to play trombone. it was fun!

  • yeeeah

  • @ViperEye oohhhh thank you! haha someon finally says something

  • I play this song on the Alto saxophone. Still, I can't say I sound great. Part of the reason my name's totalSAXsap.

  • that means you've never heard "sister sadie"...lolz

  • melody works fine! :)

one of my friends who is a jazzsaxophone player writes what she says are 'songs and not compositions'. I think this piece qualifies as a 'song';a catchy tune and a simple arrangement.

I find that these are the hardest to play well also when improvising, songs like 'All Blues'.

  • 'Rikki don't lose that number' got the intro from this song.

  • Correction- Music piece. Nasty habbits!
