Configure DHCP on the server, boot the client computer up (make sure it received a correct IP and settings from the newly created DHCP server). Then join the client to the domain.

  • Hey Love your videos they are greatly appreciated and you are well spoken, where the viewer can really get used to your lessons :D

I have set everything up the same way, and have logged into the domain etc, however when my DHCP IP is given out the clients dont have access to the internet... they get IP's but no internet access... any thoughts? I tried to twitter you, is there an email I can reach you at?

  • @darwing36 Thanks for the comments!! Sorry about the twitter thing, I seem to fall behind on keeping up with the twitter replies, etc. I will shoot you a PM here on YouTube with my email if you prefer. I would say the problem you might be having might be related to either your DHCP scope options are not set to hand out the proper Default Gateway (router) IP address, or the wrong / missing DNS server IP addresses. Hope that gets you started in the right direction.

  • I got this error when i tried to install in DHCP server: "Attempt to configure DHCP Server failed with error code 0x80074E66. The DHCP Service could not contact Active Directory". Any ideas?

  • @nairung2002 Is your DHCP server on a different system from your Domain Controller?

  • @PCAddictsLive My DHCP server is on the same virtual machine running windows 08 R2. I did exactly like your video tutorials. I tried to add another machine running windows 7 enterprise to the domain, but it could not find the domain. Please advise.

  • @nairung2002 Ok, so on your server, if you open up DHCP mmc, do you see a red "X" anywhere? I'm wondering if the DHCP service is "Unauthorized".

  • how do i reset the " network connection binding" ?

because it is not shown in the " DHCP wizard "

    and

Thank you for the video ^_^

  • Hi, I joined my domain sucessfully, setup the DHCP server just like you did, but on my client machine which is under the DC and AD, it's not getting Default gateway nor DNS when I ipconfig it. However, I have two network cards in my server, first one is for my WAN and second one is for local area network and I made sure the WAN network card was uncheched under the action-add/remove binding. Thanks
