@lilhinaboo you don't turn it into a negative the minus sign already makes it a negative you just put the plus because adding is easier and your saying the same thing, like when you learned integers, um I'm a horrible explain-er but when basically the plus is invisible o.o you would get the same answer if you didn't put it tho its just easier to visualize. hope i helped D:

@xxDarkEyezxx im pretty sure the only only amercan bit is the simplifying, they did like terms when all british would have done is: is do the first and second sum ( 8X + 4Y then -9X + 12Y) to get 12XY + 3XY. hope this helped :D

what about shorter expressions like: W x 4W or 2M x 2M x 2M ?
