@otherwheregirl WHOA... I didn't know that those were considered illegal in the us... my gosh. Well, at least with poi, it's a great way to "disguise" your techniques. If you ever get assaulted by someone on the street, you could just bust out your poi and BAM...insta-weapon!!! lol... =)

You know, I do really throw everything out the window, and just see how I can move the poi/patterns to music.
That really helps me break out of cookie cutter combos. You can take the most simplistic moves and make them art, just get creative. Music helps me do that
but I'm still working on it lol

Meenik's channel (nick woolsy) really helped me advance faster than the average person. Well, that and a LOT of work lol =D
A lot of time has passed since this video.
Since I stoped working on poi, I've gotten a lot worse. I don't think I'm very good for someone who's been spinning for over a year now.
I am better than I was in this video, but my flow is not as great as many other people who have been at it for over a year.

For only 7 weeks of practice this is AMAZING!
Be proud of yourself for it!

Looking forward to more videos!

looks like some sort of martial art....looks like weapons to me :P

@DannE11TV
You could kill a person with a chair, but I'd hardly call that a weapon =P
I like to think of poi as a cross between jump rope, and juggling, but with more dance based movements. one could include any art with poi and that is what makes it beautiful ^_____^

@otherwheregirl @otherwheregirl Hmmm what DannE11TV says is true though =D there are some weapons such as the dart rope and the double meteor/double whips etc, that use similar moves that are used in poi, such as the 3 beat weave, and butterfly variations...it is indeed quite fun knowing how different art forms share similar things...hehe...wonderful ogg poi you have there btw!

I totally agree with you, and I spin roap dart, and chain whip as well. I just want to avoid the weapon lable, since beautiful art foms like chain whip, and Nunchucks are as illegal as fully automatic guns. If you want to share those art forms in america, you have to deal with felony charges. This makes me sad, and if you have ever seen a kung fu movie, chairs also make absolutly amasing weapons
