@wijse It was a mix of gymnastic education and combat exercising; those italians had still a sort of ancient physical view of war.

@itseasyforyou "Faccetta nera"; famous fascist song.

Onore ai Caduti della Folgore di El Alamein. Viva l'Italia

@itseasyforyou Yeah, this was "Faccetta Nera", a song of 1935 (Ethiopia campaign). And YEAH - music was all we had: hymn, marches, "songs in the time of war". No modern and enough airforce, no armour to speak about, not enough men, warships beautiful to look at but with no fuel to rub them, no radar. Was this a "power" to throw into a war against practically the whole world??!!! Mindless idiots. Makes me mad every time I think about it. I was around then.

Bel video! Sarei curioso di sapere la data esatta.
at El Alamein, between 25 October and 4 November, the 6000 lions of Folgore Division were under attack from 50 000 men three British divisions 44th (Home Counties) Infantry Division, 50th (Northumbrian) Infantry Division, 7th Armoured Division Desert Rats with 350 tanks, 250 armore, 1st and 2nd Free French and the Royal Hellenic Brigades, supported by RAF and 400 cannons of UK Artillery. After 11 days of battle British have failed to break through in the Italian sector. 200 men survived.
