DogsBite.org Asks if the President's Plan Would Cover Victims of Violent Dog Attacks

Speaking on behalf of victims of violent dog attacks, the founder of DogsBite.org, Colleen Lynn, asks President Obama in a national online discussion if his plan would cover the extensive medical needs for these victims -- both immediate and longterm -- as these injuries often involve years of future surgeries.

Presently, individuals who are attacked by vicious dogs, most frequently pit bulls, suffer traumatic injury with medical costs that start at $25,000 dollars and can easily reach $300,000. Dog attack injury is often not covered by health insurance plans or by the insurance resources of dog owners.

These disfiguring attacks often cause financial disaster for the victims and their families from which they never recover. As demonstrated by the many news stories of these attacks, currently victims' families are forced to set up Medical Funds and hope that community members make donations to them.

NOt to forget the intense psychological trama these victims suffer requiring enormous quantities of counselling. These are children. But all I hear pit bull zealots talk about is poor doggies. NOT ONE WORD about the children.
