@yumcranberry Btrezhnev was a remnant of the OLD Russian culture - in the Czarist times aristocrats and cmmoners alike kissed each other to express their sympathy and friendliness (with no homosexual context) - just read War and Peace, for example.
It roots in the Christian Orthodox tradition of kissing brethren at the Easter.
