Re: Tikun Olam (by Marshall Heiser)
Tikun Olam (pronounced: tih-koon oh-lum) is an Ivrit (Hebrew) phrase connoting "repairing/rebuilding the broken world." The Kabbalistic imagery is that of hashem (g-d) accidentally/mistakenly smashing the crystal container of a world-in-progress with each shattered shard of the imperfect world-as-we-know-it containing a spark/glow (zohar) of the world-as-it-could-be. The concept is therefore of the world not as "perfect" object but a work-in-progress where the only real blessings we experience are the ones we instigate through our own actions.
There is much (and varied) imagery related to this concept/phrase around but you would need to watch out for misinterpreted Madonna-ish hogwash. Instead check out the books by Lawrence Kushner (easy to read but powerful) or anything published by Jewish Lights Publishing (USA). Avram Davis etc @ Chockmat HaLev in San Fransico is also very cool.
Verse 1: The term Shekinah refers to the concept that all physical manifestations in the universe are essentially the feminine aspects of g-d. The imagery I have used was borrowed from Joseph Campbell with his concept of WOMB = TOMB & TOMB = WOMB.
Verse 2: Written in 2003 during George Bush/Iraq Invasion media circus. All I could think is of a world being rebuilt -- but in who's image? (George Bush's Brave New World??) Sadly, still relevant today.
Verse 3: An urge to find hope buried in our long forgotten &/or despised subconcious &/or shadow, to re-integrate the feminine as well as the mind/heart (halev)/body (also represented by gold-silver-copper)...key to our fertility...to just get on with it, even though everything's a big broken mess...and often only initiated through great suffering ("the call" as Vogler would say).

lovely melancholic rendition of human day dreaming. we're all faceless in a crowd until someone sees us... we're all nothing until we become heard, like the wind in the trees uttering sounds "utterly" as we float asin like a cloud...
