[[CORRECTION: the two pads on the bottom of the foot pad did display electric conductivity, and it seems to be those 'grip pads' that scor back kick]]

I had access to two lajust electronic hogus for a few days and wanted to videotape some basic kicking to see what kind of kicks would score at what power. ///i have not seen much of this sort of video on the internet so I hope people found this informative.

As far as I'm aware this hogu was calibrated to the sensitivity appropriate for a 80 kg fighter (176 lbs), while I, the kicker, am 155 lbs. The bob bag is not full to the top with water.

Also, I chose to roll up my pant-legs to avoid having the cloth inhibiting any scoring, In the recent pan-American games in Puerto Rico for example I saw all fighters had some kind of strap keeping their pant-legs above the ankle.

Also, anything said here or in the video is simply my current understanding of the functionality of these hogus, This is not being written or said by anyone who even claims to be an expert on the lajust electronic hogu, hence some of the information may be inaccurate.

Please keep comments mature and relevant as always.

  • i think your left leg roundhouse kicks aren't scoring as often because of your technique. It might be because you turn too much

  • @chipswimmer I think you may be right. After watched this video I realized my upper body is turning way too much with my left and my arm is coming along for the ride putting me off balance. I've since corrected this and I'm glad you noticed.

  • What weight class are you, featherweight, lightweight?

  • @89Kele Feather usually

  • Hey Joe!! Super congrats on posting this vid. Peeps from all over the world are thanking you for the opportunity to see how this scoring system actually works.

I for one am extremely greatful. Kudos bro!!

Hey! In your honest opinion. What would be the absolute best way possible to score a body shot with these things?? It is foot placemet, pressure, impact, conection of sensors, etc??

  • Speaking from my limited experience with them I would say landing a clean shot is important, although through sparring with them it seemed people could almost score through arms from time to time.

pushing will not score the point. Make it short hard and snappy, this is how the scoring ones felt to me. It is an instantaneous threshold you must break, so applying pressure over time / pushing wont work.

I am very glad that my video was helpful to you (:
