This is an excerpt from the Nest of Vipers podcast hosted by San Francisco independent filmmaker Danny Plotnick (Swingers' Serenade, I'm Not Fascinating). Like the unholy coupling of Fresh Air and The Best Damn Sports Show, Nest of Vipers is smart, funny, and irreverent. Each episode features the rantings, ravings and erudite patter of independent musicians, filmmakers, writers and comedians holding court on cultural topics of the utmost importance.

Episode 8: Bad Dates. Available June 1, 2007
If you've been on more than one date, chances are you've had at least one bad one. This week, our team of "fundits" share dating horror stories. Yurts, crying rooms and English Bed Sits house our dates which include encounters with drugs, guns, underage girls, midnight movies and Tootsie.

Our guests include:

Anthony Bedard is a drummer and guitarist. He drummed for San Francisco's legendary Icky Boyfriends, a band known to clear the room at lightning speed. He is currently playing guitar in the panic-skiffle rock combo known as Hank IV. Bedard also books The Hemlock Tavern, a San Francisco watering hole and rock club.

Beth Lisick is hysterical. She's a performer, gossip columnist and author whose books include Monkey Girl, This Too Can Be Yours, and the acclaimed Everybody Into The Pool. She also co-produces the Porchlight storytelling series. Her stories are sassy and effervescent, filled with wry observations about the human species.

Sadie Shaw is a double threat. She is both a rocking musician and filmmaker. She plays guitar and sings in the garage rock outfit the Husbands. She has been making music videos and films for over a decade. During her tenure as music video director/producer at indie record label Kill Rock Stars, she developed music videos for Unwound, The Lies, Emilys Sassy Lime, and Gravy Train. She is also a filmmaker whose films includethee feature Charm, a psychological-horror film shot entirely on Super 8 and in collaboration with fellow Husband, Sarah Reed. She is currently finishing up a new feature. It's a zombie, dating spectacular called Bad Date.
