Really cool effects can be easily produced with a microwave! First we put a plate with small lightbulbs into it, and due to the induction currents in the bulb wires these light up. At the end we demonstrate that the same thing works with large lightbulbs. This works as well -- of course! But the part in the middle gives you an idea what a flame really is -- a plasma of ions. These ions, accelerated back and forth by the energetic electromagnetic fields of the microwave, produce a lot of light. The nature of it is similar to northern lights, by the way!

  • Yeah, cool experiment but the music is kind of nerd...

  • It was an excellent demonstration, the song in my opinion was unnecessary, but nevertheless those effects were really awesome.
