I'm 22, and trucking almost 3 years! there IS a Driver shortage and the bigger shortage is Professional Drivers!! to many new drivers act like they are King of the Road!! A big reason alot of the older experienced drivers are getting out of the business is all the new regulations. The biggest complaint i Hear is "Trucking Isn't How It used to Be"!! Well I never knew the old way, I only know trucking as it is Today!! Do it for yourself before judging the job, because it is a lifestyle not a job!
QUESTION....in the news it has been said that MExico might come in and do otr driving in the U.S., but it does not seem that they have the manpower to cover the ever-growing driver shortage in the Both the U.S. and Canada....is this true.......Driver feedback would be great
When I read things like what 3089280288 wrote, I wonder if he is a trucker or if he is one of those folks who judges everything immediately from the outside. As a clerical employee of an enormous intermodal company in TN, I can tell you that our drivers are treated very well. If it weren't for them, we wouldn't have paychecks.
Maybe you were working for the wrong people. ( Or maybe never worked at all ).
Do you think there is a real reason WHY there is a so-called shortage?
All those jobs suck. That's why. The companies are all the same. They only hire you becuase they need you, not because they want you around. What other profession out there has an attrition rate of over 100%? Then the companies don't like it when you switch jobs something that is the norm in this new economy. Trucking is ass backwards. Comes from too much backing up (of bullshit).

how can there be a driver shortage if there is not enough freight to go around for the drivers who are out there now?
