  • mike was a good man.

  • Such a talent, and some of these braindeads insist on yakking away while he is performing. May be if he wore pasties and a "G" string and had a heavy metal band playing with him they would pay more attention. RIP my friend. You blessed us all with your music. Liven up that heavenly band.

  • @wandiegurl I think you mean did... RIP Mike Seeger

  • Mike used several tunings, but not all were up to concert pitch at all times. sometimes his G tuning was between F & G. He tuned to suit his voice, I guess a lot of G songs were too high for his range. This was pretty common among the older players he learned from, as well. All the Seegers are real treasures.

  • That may be true among real music afficianados, but on the few occasions I introduced Mike to people I knew, they always asked "Are you related to Pete?" before I could explain Mike's background in the process of the introduction. I even used to ask him questions about Pete before I learned more about Mike's music, and thought it might be wearing thin with him, anyway. I lived in Glasgow, Va., at the time, right outside Lexington where Mike lived.

  • I don't know, I don't think Mike ever spent any time in Pete's shadow. Mike had his audience and Pete had his. Both are fantastic musicians.

  • He had to put up with a lifetime of people asking him about Pete, yet never lost his cool about it. R.I.P. Mike Seeger.

  • rip mike you were the best
