Nm, i just looked at the frame data. The super has 1+0 startup vs the ultra with 1+4. So the super at close range is unavoidable. The ultra can be jumped out of.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I thought his ultra did more damage as well.

@ 2:08 Why would he have used his Super rather than his Ultra? In any event, his Super meter would carry over to the next match whereas his Ultra wouldn't....

Focus then dash through Akuma's HK? Cross up tatsu into super? All the beautiful Ultras from Ryu? Beastly Akuma. Classic chip damage finish. I know my friends hate it when I win with that exact tactic!
