  • Light coloratura soprano voices can hang on a high E effortlessly... when young. But heavier roles can take their toll. Violetta is not a dramatic role, but it is not for voices like Dessay's in my opinion. All but the most lyric roles are rough on voices that don't have much natural size or weight. Dessay's voice is too light for Violetta, or any Verdi, and it risky to continue singing these roles.

  • Respond to this video... Her technique is superb but something is definitely off...

  • @vivace46 this where Violetta falls in love. She is happy here.

  • Dessay has a way of taking the listener on a journey to feel what she is feeling.

I want to scream when I hear her scream.

  • this is simply BAD singing !!!

  • I like the way Natalie tries to act, not just so sing. This is my first time to feel like crying hearing this song, and that must be how Violetta was feeling in the act.

  • @proopsforpresident Completely agree. I saw the last performance, and she overacted terribly to hide the vocal problems. Her voice even at it's best wouldn't suit Violetta, but in poor shape in which it is actually... I pity people who have paid 240 eruros to hear her!
