At 2140 hours companies 13, 3 & 4 respond to 3rd and Carbon Streets for a camper fire. Chief 3A (F. Bilder) arrives and transmits a working fire. Moments later, engine company 13 arrives and stretches a handline and goes to work. Crews darken down the fire within minutes.
Companies were on the scene for 1 1/2 hours.

@UJustR4pedMe they were on scene so long because on top of the camper fire they had an active propane leak that was difficult to contain. @fire25271 what you want them to run and someone get hurt it was knocked down within 10 min of dispatch thats pretty quick @skankpronger three engines was not overkill always air on the side of caution and you can always recall people

@Skankpronger What do you think was overkill????

@jck5055 I am not sure exactly when the number changed. My guess is about 10 years ago it was as listed in the description and then Whitehall decided to go with the rest of the county. Whitehall was actually dispatched on its own frequency like it is now but it was dispatched by completely different people. The Whitehall dispatch center was actually in the Township building. Now we are up to speed for the most part with the rest of the county with numbers. We still have our own channel though

@Skankpronger better it be overkill then not having enough units respond.

@phirefighter515 thanks for the clarification. I was trying to figure it out. I thought maybe they were just removing the station number prior to the unit but that didn't make sense in this case. When did the numbers change? Was all of the county designated differently?

i was gonna say stations 3,4 and 13 arent very close to each other...
