I am a firefighter for south williamsport, pennsylvania and this would of never happened in my station ever.. I was so disappointed in this.

I highly doubt budget or manpower had anything to do with the Chief Officer who knew there was a crew inside, the smoke indicating a possible flashover developing and he walked away while at least one other firefighter watched the door come all the way down before he reacted. I was a Chief Officer of a volunteer dept. 25 years ago and it wasn't all that different. You don't need a huge budget to train. I don't like criticizing other departments but I will criticize Chiefs and this was disgusting

All I can say is that you can tell there was no IC command set up no one really know what to do.
I could see a possible flash over right after the Woman EMT moved away behind the vehicle. She shouldn't have been there in the first place and not have worried about the dog.
They should have cut the garage door and or/ had both open/cut. Its common sence and Safety.
It was like watching a bunch of chickens running around with there heads off they could have lost come guys because of this.

Some Information for you all: This fire happened about 20-25 years ago. RIT Teams were not in place, nor was any type of Mutual Aid. Not everyone had SCBA's back then, and they were minimal. SCBA's were not required at that time. Budget also has a big play, as well as manpower. Firefighting was very different 20 years ago than what we have today. So before you blast fellow firefighters, know the facts. Anything else? Just ask.

@jwitynski What does that have to do with it???
I would expect my Fire Department to be well trained, whether they were Full-Time or Volunteer.... I used to Manage an Ambulance Service, and I expected EXACTLY the same of all EMT's whether they worked full time, or 1 shift a month......

At 1:22 you hear someone actually call for a couple of pike poles to put in the door, and the chief/IC yelling to the ems person to forget about the DOG. You hear her keep yelling everytime she's at the door "C'mon dog". Admirable, but not the brightest move. Also note 4 firefighters approacing with out any SCBA. It was at 1:30 no one is watching when the door starts to come down, 1:40 when someone firsts notices the door coming down but does nothing! The chief with the SCBA walked right by!!

definitely a cluster fucke

all i can say is training badly needed.

It's hard for me to comment on training since I know nothing about this Department or their training budget. I will say, however, that the first Chief who tried to get the crew out was right. But his quote "I can't get them out" indicates they have no evacuation system in place. Not a lot of training needed for that. Otherwise, my hat is off to them for giving it their best. Retired vol. chief

No, there was a dog barking the garage. That's why the medic kept coming up. Someone told her, "Don't worry about the dog."
