I agree that it is all about "grace," and I'm aware that Pastor Mark uses the term "religion" to denote self-righteousness. But I don't agree with his use of the term "religion." Do most people (other than evangelicals) really use the term "religion" nowadays as synonymous with "self-righteousness" or "legalism"?
@cbcurtis85 Pastor Mark calls self righteousness a religion that leads to nothing but death. That is why he emphasizes so much that we are to cling to Christ, not the rulebook, grace and not law.
Mark uses the term "religion" in a confusing way. Did the NIV translators of James 1:26-27 mistranslate the Greek word θρησκεία as "religion"? Is Mark prepared to argue this?
