I was in high school at the time, and I remember coming home from my after-school job. I was going to go to the skating rink that night, but when mom told me that the US had beaten the Commies, I stayed home and watched it (it was played earlier that afternoon and shown in prime-time highlights). I didn't care I already knew the score, or even if it was highlights...it still gives me chills 33 1/2 years later.
