Le National vs Da Toads
SC-HMX10a
Raw footage: samsung mp4 h.264 720p HD Super FIne
Edited using Internal edition options.
0.6x wide angle lens 30mm
Full Auto mode except
White Balance: custom
AE: Sports
Full Battery: 70min (icheck) (came with 3rd Party batt)
Actual life: 35min (powered on/ recording etc)
Recording capacity: 4gig internal (43min)
Recording time: 32min
My guess is the battery life was cut in half due to the zooming.
This camera would be perfect if the battery life were longer.
Update:
I have since picked up a second hmx10c with an original Samsung Battery and found that it lasts about 60min-90min.
If you can get it cheap like me, it is definitely worth it:
1. Great quality video ( even though it's only 720p)
2. MIC INPUT:) This is what sold me. So hard to find on a budget HD camcorder.
3. Good in low light with 2 backlight options on, and extra low light with the internal led light.
4. Great for fast motion.
5. While panning, minimal skewing, hardly noticable. I found it 100 times better than a d90, and even better than an Sony hdr-hc3.
6. Plays wonderfully in media player on Windows 7.
7. Editing: I found editing clips right on the camera is very helpful for post production. My computer is an AMDx2 with 3gig ram and 512 video ram. Playback in software is often choppy and freezes ( i hear intel processors don't have this problem). I usually find myself exporting to HDV to add effects or tweak clips.
Like I said, if you edit in the camera first, it makes things easier and faster after:)
hi what program or software do you use to watch the samsung videos with? i have the same camcorder but theres no program or software that allows me to watch the captured video. thanks

@jayphn I have my system set to Dual boot (WinXP 32bit / Windows 7 I think it is 64bit). I can only watch the videos using Windows 7 and they only work with Media Player 11 (which comes with Windows 7). Anything else and the video playback will be extremely slow and choppy. In order to edit, i have to put the files into an editing software and convert/render to HDV for editing.
