David Vincent, Founder and Director of Projects at the United Kingdom's Carbon Trust, visited Chicago on February 8-10, 2011. In light of the absence of carbon regulation in the U.S., Mr. Vincent discussed the cost savings of energy efficiency, the importance of renewable energy in the energy mix and the political drivers of carbon legislation.
Organized by UK Trade & Investment, Mr. Vincent's prosperity-focused agenda included meetings with Johnson Controls, UL Environment, Invenergy and the Clean Energy Trust. While in Chicago Mr. Vincent was also the guest of honour at an 'All Things Energy' roundtable hosted by the British Consulate-General and UKTI. The event brought together unique perspectives from those associated in the energy realm -- renewable energy, traditional energy, heavy consumers/industrial users, energy efficiency -- to discuss what frames the Midwest energy/carbon landscape.
The Carbon Trust was established by the U.K. government in 2001 to provide specialist support to industry and the public sector in their effort to reduce carbon, improve energy efficiency and support emerging environmental technologies.
